In order to create the Lime Creek Residence, the RGA team studied the site from multiple angles and levels, situating the residence to look over a small glade of trees and have a view of the lake beyond it. The elevation plan was created to provide a sensation of both being above and within the serene, wooded environment which surrounded the property. The Shou Sugi Ban Japanese charred black wood façade was also chosen to blend in with the surrounding eco-system while also serving as the most sustainable option for the main exterior material as it is extremely sturdy and resistant to both fire and decay. The residence is also designed to provide multiple options for entertaining, including a private hidden speakeasy. The program provided breaking up the major living volumes to both nestle a pool and ensure that each level provided excellent views of the surrounding environment.
