This townhome, situated on Allison Island in Miami Beach, is designed to accommodate a new, lighter and simplified lifestyle for the client.
The main stair in the foyer is a constant visual marker and focal point throughout the home. Its calming glow is visible while moving from level to level as well as from within the various spaces. Made of white-gold mosaic tile and aluminum panels, the stairway channels the natural light from the skylights above.
Throughout the entire project, spaces are distinguished from one another through the application of distinct material palettes. In the dining room, warm wood tones are accentuated by a stretched latex wall and ceiling. The dark palette and delicate surfaces in the master bedroom provide a feeling of relaxation. In the living room, the wall of floor-to-ceiling, double-height windows is softly veiled by shear fabrics that provide a delicate balance of shadow and natural light. At the top level of the home, the main roof terrace materials play off of those found in the surrounding environment.
The project seamlessly threads together light, space, and materiality; providing moments which are fluid and open while at the same time tactile and intimate.
