Florida Keys Retreat

The design for the spiritual retreat in the Florida Keys explores architecture’s potential to be experiential. The guest, at one scale, may become physically involved with the architecture and through apparatuses, manipulate surfaces. Thus a wall constructed of wood and metal can be open and transformed to allow a plane of leaves and light to form the new enclosure. At another scale manipulations of color, light, or space parallel a series of sensations.
