The La Gorce Island Residence project is designed as a series of floating pavilions intertwined with the landscape to create a unique, tropical and Florida experience for the owner’s guests to enjoy. The spatial organization allows not only for the landscape to filter within the project, but it allows light and breezes to do so as well. Concrete in different textures and finishes were the primary materials proposed for the walls and flooring. RGA also developed specialty walls with a custom breeze block design to act as a series of veils for the house creating a dynamic and tropical appearance. Guests enter through a series of gardens and pools and cascading water walls. The layout takes advantage of the understory space by designing a custom bar on the enclosed lobby area which opens to a covered outdoor lounge and barbeque area. The second floor contains the spa pavilion and jacuzzi and on the rooftop, RGA designed a special outdoor terracing space to hold events and project movies with stepped seating.
